Is the Racial Discrimination Act redundant?

Australia’s newest Human Rights chief, Tim Wilson, is under fire for advocating changes to the Racial Discrimination Act.

The law in question is section 18C of the legislation, which makes it illegal to insult, intimidate, humiliate or offend a person or group on the basis of race, colour or ethnic origin.

Race Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Tim Soutphommasane, warns that the proposed amendments to the Act may license racial hatred.
